Thanks everyone! I am already looking forward to the next 1000. Unfortunately, I will have to slow down on it, due to work interferring. It has been a fun, fast summer. My goal for the summer was to complete the three challenges: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Counties, and Delorme. I managed to complete all three including the finals, so it has been a great productive summer.
Hope to see you all on the caching trail or to go caching with you in the near future.

Likestocanoe hit 2500! Even though I already gave them a big ol' WOOHOO on the phone, I want to say WAY TO GO GUYS! 2500 is a lot of caches in a short time. Didn't y'all just start this last year! I will never be able to keep up with that! Thanks for all the great caches you have placed, and all the great fun we have had, and will have!
I guess I should have posted this sooner, but sometimes I am a little slow to think of stuff, so thanks to BSA, for noticing.
Cache on L2C! :D :D :D

I don't think I will ever get there either QC. I think my closest unfound cache is now 34 miles and that is only a few around Lake D'Arbonne so I've kinda slowed myself. I'm trying to get some L.A. cachers back into hiding them. They have been busy finding all mine I guess and only a handful have gone out in the last several months (other than those in Camden) some 40 miles from the house. Congrats to you likestocanoe on your milestone. As much as you and QC type on your logs you both with have arthritis soon if you don't slow down. (I do understand QC may only have it in his pointer finger, but still I'm sure it will slow his ability to type down :D ).

The log has already been signed L2C! I chose to do the last remaining original flannelman cache, that I had not found. It was "Piney Trail Cache", and I grabbed it on Sunday afternoon. It was close to home, and since Will's "Ouachita Pinnacle" was my first, I thought it fitting. Just gotta get 'em all logged now.
I was trying to make it to 3000 by July 20th, because that was when I got my 1000th, one year ago. So I guess one year and six days isn't too bad. Now to see if I can get to 4000, by the end of the year. That may be asking too much though, since there is the small matter of deer season in there.
Anyway, thanks for asking! :D :D :D

Way to go QC! We knew you were getting close to that 3000th smilie. May we be the first to congratulate you. :D You've been really burning the trails the last few months. We know that if you set your mind to getting #4000 by the end of the year, you will. Don't know how you do it with deer season and work, not to mention the very warm temperatures. Happy Caching, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl

It will be worth it Gingerose. BUT!!!!! Bruce and I are planning 2 more power runs in that area before deer season. One trail is on an old railroad bed 30 miles long that we plan on mountain biking and getting 200 caches on that trail. There is another power trail area that we will have to get later next early summer. I don't think you are going to catch Bruce. You already caught and passed me...be happy with that.

Hey that isn't minuscule! If you had fun finding those 200 caches then that is what it is all about. I tend to cache in spurts so it may take me ten years to reach 1000 let alone 3k!

Man, there is NOTHING small about 200 geocaches - We fondly remember our 200th and how hard we worked and how much fun we had getting there. Each cache adds it's own memories.... A wise man told us that some days it's about the numbers and some days it's about the adventure...
jclaudii
08-03-2009, 08:27 AM
Most of the ones for us are about the adventure, as can be seen in some various pictures and stories. The ones we usually don't remember and are just smiley's are Park-N-Grabs. In a few years we'll be caching with two little ones and that could be fun right? :) Thanks all for the encouragement.

QC congrats on the 3000. You mentioned a while back about a 30 mile bike trail with 200 caches but I can't figure out where that is. On Saturday while in your fine city I happened across a brand new Dick's Sporting Goods. Never been in one and not sure if I ever need to go back. I couldn't help of dreaming of 200 caches on a 30 mile bike trail while I test drove new bikes around the store. I just knew 2ter and I were going to plow into some frail person, but we didn't. We were 2 of about 20 people test driving bikes around the store. One guy had rode all of them once and was starting over the second time riding them again. Needless to say 2ter talked me into getting a new bike (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Mom on the other hand isn't too happy. She didn't care if the bike was on sale for $200 off the retail price or not. Go figure, I never gripe when she buys all these clothes "on sale"....
jclaudii- Congratulations as well on the 200. I fondly remember my 200th cache as well. I was in so much of a hurry to get to a thousand the last several hundred blended together. I got to a thousand and it wasn't near as exciting as I thought it would be. Now if I could go on some of the QC Power Cachin' trips I could be to 2000 in no time!!

i started caching on 5/22/9 and on 7/22/9 i found my 300th cache. im trying to make up for lost time. i dont really cache for the numbers. what im really proud of is my streak. today was my 75th day in a row finding a cache. it was also my 75th day since i started caching. ive tapped out conway so now its becoming more challenging.
on a side note, something you can tell people to promote caching. ive got a ruptured disc and several herniated discs and lots of scar tissue from a surgery a few years ago. i wasnt too bad overweight but since ive started caching ive lost 22 lbs. my back hurts worse but the rest of me is in alot better shape because of geocaching. getting out everyday has been very challenging for me.
i hate to sound corny, but geocaching has drastically improved my quality of life. i appreciate everyone who was doing this before me and taking the time to hide caches.

Chadbishop, that is a very impressive streak of 75 days in a row. Also 300 is no laughing matter. Some people cache for the numbers, some for the love of the hunt, some to get into shape, and some to get outside away from the television. As long as you are having fun, everything else is secondary bonuses. Especially you getting into shape while having fun! Hope to see you on the trail!

Congratulations, chadbishop, on your accomplishment. 75 days, 300 caches is a great milestone. 75 days straight geocaching is even a greater accomplishment.
Also congratulations on your health improvement.
I started geocaching because my doctor told me I needed to get more exercise and that walking would be a good exercise for me. I, too, had some medical issues, such as a stint in my heart and prostate cancer. After hearing about geocaching I decided I would try that to get me off the couch. Although I haven't been quite as dedicated to getting out every day I believe it does help to have something to motivate me to get more exercise.
We are haveing our Searcy Meet and Greet on Sept. 26th and hope you can make it. It has been posted on GC.COM and the link to the page is:

Well, we hit two milestones yesterday that mean something to us anyway. We have now found over 8800 caches. And, most important to us, we went over our goal of finding 5000 Arkansas caches before the end of the year. This is just unique caches. It does not include any event caches. Thank you so much Arkansas geocachers for placing caches. This would not have been possible without you and we appreciate every cacher who takes the time to give back to the game by placing caches for others to find.

I just hit #900 6 days ago, and I never thought I would say this, but I am actually WORN OUT from my marathon 4-day multi-county stint. Now I get to log those 100+ field notes. Hopefully I'll catch my second wind and be up for some caching Saturday....good night, all.
Congrats. on your 1k milestone. And I must agree with you that I think this is where all the cool geocachers hang out.
Congrats. to Zeke and George as well on the 1k

Feb 6 was my 35th birthday! I found my 100th find, as a new cacher! And hid my first (actually 4) caches!
It was a great day that I wont forget for a long many years!
It was a perfect day!
After looking through this thread, WOW, I have a hard time imagining 1000, 2500, 5000 finds! Gives me something to look forward to!
Thanks to all who visited my and commented on my thread!

Way to go y'all! Ashallond, it is great to get to 1000. This now qualifies you for something...I'm not sure what, but it sure feels great!
AFM, I'm not sure how many circles Tinman could have been walking in if he found 150 caches that day! He was probsbly a little too busy signing logs to be walking in too many. Way to go y'all! That is a MONSTER DAY! :D :D :D

03-27-2010, 06:57 PM
It does qualify him for Paris1Time's Gold Ammo Box. That is all the accolades I believe come his direction, other than the braggin' rights.
Yea, I wonder how many we could have found if he didn't talk on the phone (GPSr) all day, we didn't spend five hours driving to and from Hot Springs, and he didn't spend all that time wonderin' around in circles. I guess we will hit 200 next time. What is your record QC? Didn't you and Denful break 200?
QuartzCachers
03-27-2010, 09:15 PM
Why yes AFM we did find 215 one day, and we took some heat for our efforts on the Groundspeak forums. I will say that all the criticism came from one couple who just couldn't believe this was possible and wanted someone to check the logs. Ashallond, who I hadn't met in person at that point, came to our defense and said that from most he wouldn't believe it, but from Dentful and me, he would. I am still appreciative of that, and I won't forget it. So Thanks for that Ashallond, in addition to congrats for getting your name on the "Golden Can Of Fame"! :D :D :D

Here's a milestone too. AstroBug just hit 7,000 miles on the cache-trail over on QC's "Community Anchor". The full stories there, if anyone wants to read it. But basically he's a vehicle-mounted Travel-Bug who has been logged into & out of every cache that I've ever found. 7000/960 = 7.3 miles per cache.
Since he also visits caches which I walk to, I'll be getting him as my 4th tattoo in a couple weeks. 8)
So tell the AstroBug, "Happy 7,000th". :P

I will say that after doing 115 caches with about 5-6 DNF's and including 6 hours of just straight drive time to and from the cache trail (not on way) and really only caching for 8 hours, that 200+ is easily doable in the right trail area. maybe 300 if you have a good team setup...three people would be great (One to drive, one to manage the log finds, and one to run out and sign/stamp/sticker the log) you could get in a good groove.
The Main Haul 1-29 we did in 68 minutes according to my log stamps from my field notes. Get a really long, clean, obviously hinted powertrail, and I can even see 300 as an easily attainable number.
that being said, I think I would go insane if I did that track for 10 hours straight. Yeah, I'm glad to hit 1000 and get on the gold braggin' ammo can, but just to say I did it within a year is what I think I take from it.
and no, I don't plan to go that fast again...I may slow down a bit now.
Especially since I'm not knee deep in Quiz Bowl season, with state tournament on the 10th, and we're going in as the 1 or 2 seed.
