You may have noticed by now that an event in AR (GC759K7 (https://coord.info/GC759K7)) has been published which is overtly commercial and appears to be promoting a particular business, and therefore violates the commercial guidelines. Please note that Geocaching HQ published this event. If Geocaching HQ publishes something, then there's a good chance that the regular Guidelines do not apply. This is an official promotion in which Geocaching HQ is partnering with the event hosts. The commercialism guidelines are designed to prevent "free advertising" by geocachers who wish to include commercial content in their free cache listings, content which has not been previously approved by Geocaching HQ.
Promotions have been a part of geocaching for a while now. Mostly as trackable give-aways. Remember the Geico TB, the John Grisham TB, etc.? Promotions date back to the yellow Jeep TBs in 2004. And, actually, the APE caches would fit, except that they were actual caches, rather than trackables.
