We were hoping to visit the GPS Arkansas Adventure Maze at the University of Arkansas Discovery Zone in Fayetteville soon. Is the unique maze icon still available when touring this location, or was that only during the grand opening in Smackover, Arkansas back in 2009? There doesn't seem to be a cache page listing at the location of the musuem in order to log our visit. If the icon is still available how do we proceed? Thanks in advance for any information anyone can share with us.

According to this schedule (http://www.arkansasdiscoverynetwork.org/RoadTrip/rt_schedule.html), it was supposed to open in Fayetteville in September. I haven't heard why it did not and I haven't heard of a revised opening date.
When it does open, you can still get the icon. In fact, even if you have visited it at another location, you can visit it again and get another "find" added to your icon count because it will be listed under a different GC number.

Spoke with a staff member at the University of Arkansas Discovery Zone in Fayetteville this morning. The GPS Arkansas Adventure Maze has indeed been delayed. She anticipates it arriving after the first of January, but didn't know the details. She didn't have any information on where we might visit the maze at this time.

I emailed Bonnie Craig, director of the UA Discovery Zone and she told me that barring anything unforeseen, the GPS adventures will open on Dec. 20th.
Looking futher at the webpage, they've updated the calendar to show that the exhibition will run from Dec. 20th to March 20th, with it open Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. The calendar can be viewed on the above webpage and click on the calendar link under 'General UADZ information'

I had emailed groundspeak to notify them of this back on Wednesday, and they asked if I was at the museum so they could confirm everything. I said no and pointed them to Bonnie Craig. I'm stunned it went up this fast honestly. This will be my first arkansas maze. never could get to the other sites. I have been to the national maze when it was in Nashville, and plan to go to it went it leaves Canada and goes to Wichita next spring.

The geocaching listing says this opens on Dec. 20th. It is not open as of the 21st. The sign on the doors says it will open Dec. 22 (today) but I have my doubts on that. I looked in late yesterday afternoon and they were just unbooking and setting up things. Unless they worked all night it probably will not be ready today. Also the cords on the geocaching listing will not take you there. You need to get the street address.

Looks like Groundspeak didn't follow their own rules before publishing this "cache" - the one that says the cache has to be in place before the listing can be published! :D

I've notified Groundspeak about the problems. Thanks for letting us know about it, Judy!

I was told it would be open yesterday when I called to double check on tuesday. I would highly recommend calling ahead until it gets open.

The cache page has been updated to show an opening date of December 27. You probably should call ahead, however, before visiting on this date or soon thereafter!
Regarding the coordinates, I don't know if the posted ones have been corrected or not. If they are not correct and anyone has the right ones, I will be happy to update the listing with the correct ones. Just email me with them or post them in this thread.

(info from the cache page)
The University of Arkansas Discovery Zone (http://cmase.uark.edu/UADZ/UADZ.htm) in Fayetville, AR will host this exhibit from December 27 through March 19, 2012.
(Fayetteville is spelled incorrectly on the cache page.)

They first posted opening the 20th so hopefully they will be open on the 27th. May be up that way tomorrow if the rain stops.

It's open, up and running and the guy manning it is not a geocacher, but wants to learn and is creating a cache for the center to put out, and is wanting to load the maze magellens with some coords and such. he's trying to make it better,
Saw some pictures of people with caching stats that are WAY out of date at this point.
