    Geocaching Articles

Did everyone see the Geocaching article in Parade magazine this weekend in the Dema-Zette. Also, here is a link to another article that was in the Washington Post. Hopefully we'll get some new recruits.

That was a very good article, I thought. What I liked most was that it spelled out what you should do to get started (basically buy a GPSr and go to GC.com).

My only lament is that our Google ranking is not very high. When you search for "Arkansas geocaching", you don't get a hit on arkgeocaching.org until the SIXTH page!!! I don't really know what more to do to help this, but we should be the first site on that list....
I get my directions from above.

I just did a google search and we came up on the first page 5th one down but on all searches if you just put in arkansas geocaching it will search for everything that has arkansas and everything that has arkansas in it. On the other hand if you use quotes "arkansas geocaching" it will only search the WHOLE phrase that might be why mine came up in the first page.

    USA Today Article

Here's another article from USA Today. This article was done in response to a negative article up in a Springfield Mo paper about graveyard caches. The Ozark Mountain Geocachers all hounded the writer, and editor of the article and were able to get a better article, that actually shows the truth about geocachers. This article is the result.

Here's a follow-up to the above mentioned article.

Well, just thought I would let you know that our article not only
spread to just about every big & small newspaper throughout the USA
but it is also in the Singapore Straits Times along with a full page
    picture of Jeepers.

Is this getting the word out about geocaching or what?
I'm trying to find an online version of the Singapore article.

I was in a Subaru Dealer today in Fayetteville and found a Subaru book called DRIVE and on the front page it had this I thought here is a MAJOR car producer with an article on Geocaching. Anyone can pick up one of the books at ANY Subaru dealership. Here is a link to the article on the SUBARU webpage http://www.drivesubaru.com/Win06_Feature.htm Or you can go to http://www.drivesubaru.com

Here is an interesting tid-bit for you....

As of January the 3rd when I bought my GPSr (the week prior to the article), the pawnshop where I bought it had four more units for sale. When I stopped in today they had none.

I wonder if there has been a simular run on them at the retail outlets?
