    68-yo newbie needs help

My new SporTrakColor unit arrived this past week and today
I made my first attempts. A total bust. I tried four different
cache areas (one twice) and drew a complete blank.

What's the best way to learn the ropes? Mark a spot and then
navigate to it to get familiar with the ins and outs of gps....find an
experienced Geocacher and tag along on a search..keep butin' the
    old noggin against the wall?

    Thanks!

If you cannot find another cacher to show you around try looking for the biggest container in the area. A Ammo Can or larger this one might be a good start.

That is the biggest cache I know of around Little Rock. I have not found it yet. Happy hunting.

I live in LR. If you want to tag along one day, send a PM on the website and I'll get back to you. There are many caches I am familiar with and a number I have not found in the county. My initial GPS was a SporTrak, so I may be of some help.

A great one to look for in LR is GCZ21Z "SKIPPY-peanut butter playland" Its really easy and really big. Plus it smells great there!

Don't worry it gets easier with every find.

Thanks for the tips. I'll probably try those caches today.

    68-yo newb scores FF.LOL!!

I did manage to find this one and two more today. I still have questions about accuracy in general and the SporTrak in particular. Not sure I can make the gathering on the 31st but no doubt some face-face time with felow members would be a tremendous help.
