    Attention: Arkansas Geocachers

    Way to Go!

You just beat your own record for number of caches placed in a month in Arkansas. As of right now, Thursday, November 1, 5:13 am, there are 189 published caches that were placed in October 2007. July 2007 was the old record with a final total of 174 new caches placed. Thank you.

If you are interested in this stuff, current stats are:

Calendar Year Placed - Number of Active Caches

    2000 - 1
    2001 - 16
    2002 - 46
    2003 - 122
    2004 - 286
    2005 - 454
    2006 - 1026
    2007 - 1345 thru 10-31-2007

    Arkansas - 3296
    Louisiana - 1963
    Oklahoma - 3338
    Missouri - 3066
    Tennessee - 8104
    Kansas - 2789
    Kentucky - 4143
    Mississippi - 1723
    Texas - 21,030

A big big thank you to all of you who are placing geocaches for others to find. And an even bigger thank you to Chuck Walla (our volunteer Arkansas reviewer), who has approved 440 caches in the last three months alone.

I was just thinking about the numbers yesterday while driving from one cache to another. I knew there had been a lot of caches hidden in October but I did not think it was that many. Thanks to everyone that hid new caches. I echo RKLMBL's thanks to ChuckWalla for volunteering the time to review and post all of those caches. It can't be an easy job. I scouted out several places yesterday for some new caches and hope to have quite a few new ones out in the next few weeks. Ya'll come find'em and hide some more for me.

I think we can hit 4K by the end of the year. If Chuck Walla can hold out
I plan on getting started after the event. I have some new ideas stewing on the back burner
I have friends in overalls whose friendship I would not swap for the favor of the kings of the world.

The way she throws those numbers around you'd think mbl was an analyst or something!

Coming from a newcomer to Geocaching, looks like Gorilla Stash (GC1B) is the only remaining cache from 2000, how long has it been since there was more than 1? Did it really take several months to get a FTF on it?
