I'm glad to see the new topic here. I have only found a few benchmarks so far but I am planning to find a lot more when the weather cools down.

If you are driving in the southeast area of the state (Lonoke Co., Prairie, Co., Arkansas Co., Monroe Co., etc...), look for bright orange fiber glass flat post. The Corps of Engineers a few years back did a mass relocate for USGS benchmarks in the project areas that I work. If they located a benchmark, they put up these new post. You can see many of them from the road as you drive. I found two this morning that I didn't know existed and I had been apart of a huge benchmark hunt around where these are several years ago for my agency, NRCS. If you want to see what the orange post look like check out the bench marks that I have located. I have pictures that show them. Happy hunting. 8). And don't forget your mosquito spray. I feed several today.
