What does that have to do with Geocaching? Maybe nothing. But if you Geocache with a PDA maybe a lot. The product hasn't been released but it is supposed to be soon. I understand that there will be models with a GPS available.

Code name Origami falls by the wayside.
Now it is UMPC, ultra mobile personal computer.

I admit it!

But consider this:

NO MORE hooking up cables for GPS uploading
NO MORE messing with converters for laptop power
NO MORE hanging up on cables running all over heck and back
NO MORE field notes, do it real time!

Just grab it and go. Update GSAK will you're driving down the highway.

But right now, the reality is:
short battery life
expensive

It may be that celluar carriers will subsidize the devices like they are doing now with PDA's and bring the cost down some. There may be a rescue for battery life on the way in the way of fuel cells.

Five years. We will be in a different world!
