So I'm thinking through putting together a group to work on Cache Bash V - how does Sep 13 look for everyone this year?

This basically ends the "summer" caching season for most of us, and I 'think' clears the opening seasons for hunting this year. (Someone correct me if I'm off on that one.)

If you've never been to a CAGE Cache Bash before, you really missed a good time - but no worries... you'll have a chance to change that, soon!

This is what a Cache Bash looks like:

If you are in Central Arkansas and interested in helping this year, please let me know... its only going to happen if we work together. Once we lock down the date/location, I'll make an official announcement on CG.com and another thread here.

This thread is for planning purposes only... thanks! Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

It was great talking to all the CAGE folks tonight at the "Meet n Greet" tonight.
If you raised your hand to volunteer to help put on this event, please PM me 'here' or on GC.com (savoy)... or just post in this thread.
My next step is to talk to the group (via PM or email) regarding the venue to finish that part up, so we can work on the rest.

SO EXCITED about how this is forming up this year.... take care!

Cool beans!
I was able to meet up with the local person from the USDA for one of the venues... so I think we are about ready to meet and make the final call for the spot we want.

I think there are couple of other names of folks that wanted to help.
W00dduck was one, anyone else remember who all put their hands up? I want to be sure to get their input before we lock down the location - would be nice to make the call some time this week.

Take care! Savoy

OK, I saw a lot more hands that meeting then this :)
Regardless, i really appreciate those who said they would help....

I've made contact with both possible venues this last weekend. As soon as I hear back from them on a few of the bits-and-bobs we discussed I'll put what I've got pulled together in an email, and then we can talk about our a quick planning meeting... taking the rest of this off-line until the event day.

Very excited!!!

Thanks buddy... I'm working with the agencies of two locations at the moment. The first one to let me lock the event 'wins'! Right now its between NLR Parks and the Ouachita forest folks. I'll let know now one way or another how it works out very soon!

OK... its official. We decided early one, the first of the possible locations that would work with us to 'lock in' a site would be THE ONE this year. I heard from the FS today that they would be willing to work with us on the event at Lake Sylvia. This is going to be an AWESOME more traditional venue... camping available for those who want that experience, but also VERY close to major cities (Little Rock, Hot Spring Village, Morrilton). The main event will be at the historic Camp Ouachita (http://www.arkansas.com/attractions/detail.aspx?id=91670).

If you are still interested in help with this event, please PM or email me (savoylen@live.com).

I'll be opening a new thread for the actual event as we get closer.

Great vid! Do they want help maintaining the trail? Would be a good C.I.T.O.? Would make a great fun day of course I understand keeping trails primitive is fun as well.

Thanks all for the comp.s.... greatly appreciated!

Michael (SYC) is thinking about hosting a CITO there for just that purpose. I know when I was talking to the FS rep, that they were VERY interested in having help with the trails because there are a lot of groups willing to do the 'trash out' part, but very few that would take on maintenance for a section of the trail.

I'm about to head out the site to do some final event prep with some of the other event team members... please help spread the word, we've love to a great turn-out for the day of activities we have going!

That looks like a lot of fun and a shame we could not attend this year with our kids first year of 4H at the fair. I hope it goes well and the rain will subside for most of your day, either way the temps will be great!
