The Membership Relations Committee is happy to showcase some ArkGeo Geocachers through the "Geocacher Profile". The committee thought Jim and Susan Yeager aka Apache Scout & Sioux-ZQ should be the next cachers to be in the spotlight.

What is your geocaching name?
Apache Scout & Sioux-ZQ

How did you choose your handle?
Jim was the guidance counselor at Pottsville High School for 27 years and the school mascot is Apaches. Susan had another handle, but a teacher in one of our Geocaching Workshops renamed her Miss Sioux and from that came Sioux-ZQ

How long have you been geocaching?
Eight years this summer.

How did you find your first Geocache, and which one was it?
Almost by accident. We were so bad with the GPS that we were nine miles off at first. It was Hear That Lonesome Whistle Blow.

Who usually goes with you when you go caching?
We mostly go alone, since there are two of us. We really enjoy caching with our bud, Coon&Bud and Jim and Hot Rod have "worked" together frequently.

How long will you work on puzzle caches before you give up?
Sioux-ZQ is a bulldog if she is interested and in the puzzle mood. If not, we are not as diligent as we would like.

What town/areas have you most enjoyed caching in?
Of course, we have to list Clarksville first. In our early days it was like GeoDisneyland!

Do you do paperless caching?
Kinda. Sioux-ZQ is still a 2nd grade teacher at heart and likes paper! Generally we use a list to plan our route, but otherwise we are paperless and depend on GSAK.

What kind of geocaching rig do you use?
Garmin CX 60 and a Tom Tom mobile unit.

Why would you recommend anyone else to take up geocaching?
It gets us off the couch, doing an activity as a couple, and we meet great people. We love it!

Where are you originally from?
Jim - Ozark
Susan - Morrilton

In what states have you geocached?
Sioux-ZQ is NOT a traveler and that is an understatement. Generally the states bordering Arkansas and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

What was your first event ever attended?
One of the Clarksville Events in 2006. Wow!

How many caches have you found?
About 6,500

Which type of cache container do you prefer over the rest?
We still like ammo cans in the woods best. A rare find these days.

What was the most famous cache that you have found?
120 Miles Out of the Way in Wilson Arkansas, actually in Wilson, Tennessee. It is a do not miss while doing the state parks. A Tennessee cache on the Arkansas side of the Mississippi. Look it up!

Do you use disposable batteries or rechargeable batteries?
Standard batteries

Do you enjoy hiding or finding more as your part of the hobby?
Finding. Sioux-ZQ is a really BAD hider. If she had her way, no one would ever find our caches.

Do you have a personal goal in mind when you make a hide?
We try very hard to have the coordinates accurate.

What is you favorite type of cache hide?
Once again, we like short hikes in rural areas and ammo cans.

Out of all your hides, what are your personal favorites that you take pride in?
We were proud of the Tour of Pottsville Series, but time and progress, have not been kind to the hiding spots.

What do you think the proper hide to find ratio should be to keep the sport fresh?
We always suggest you hunt awhile before you hide, and 1 to 100 might be a good guideline.

How did you end up getting into this wacky hobby?
A good friend who was a gadget guy had a GPS and asked us to tag along.

What's your favorite geocache?
In June 2010, Sioux-ZQ retired from teaching and we went out to celebrate by doing Cooder's Starlight Night Cache. We made no calls, got no help, and had a great time. In those days the trail was pretty unimproved and this was quite a challenge. We were very proud.

If money was no object, where would you like to go geocaching?
Russellville, Arkansas. It is in Sioux-ZQ's range.

Do you like geocaching by yourself or in a group?
We like being out together, but we love events and hanging out with friends on caches at these events.

How many First to Finds do you have?
Maybe 100. It is not our thing.

Are you a First to Find person who is always set on go and if so, how many miles out do you have your settings on to get notifications?
Once again, we are not FTF people. Too much work for us!

Do you have any other hobbies besides geocaching?
Susan is a lawn and garden girl and Jim loves baseball history.
