This is the first Thanksgiving that we have not gone "caching" over the holiday week end. Our(personal) schedule did not allow for that this year. After our meal on Thanksgiving day, we usually head out in a direction new to us caching along a determined route, half way into the time, then head back home on another route picking up several caches.

This year work determined our scheduled and the Chef at a favorite Hotel did the cooking for us and our children with a holiday brunch, no other family members this year, then right back to work that very day. We did however run into fellow cachers out and about.

I tried to complete a Micro Dash through LR. I started with TopKitty's Civil War Caches then headed to GK28's end of trail cache for a total of 5. The 1st three went without any incident. From parking the car, reading the monument, finding the cache, and getting back into the cache-mobile Less than 5 or 10 minutes. Then came Bayou Fourche, I looked everywhere I could think of but didn't find it. I moved on, and stopped by the national cementary. After that I debated on going after the End of Trail cache, since I was running late to get to Thanksgiving dinner at a friends place. I went ahead and stopped, short walk to the area, Took a quick look around, decided to try another day. I wound up 3 for 5 on this Micro dash.

We had hot dogs for Thanksgiving dinner.

Hot Dogs Off Trail (from Wisconsin), that is!

Our good friends and cachers were here to spend the holiday with us. They come down 2 or 3 times a year and have already bought a home in this area so will shortly be Arkansas cachers.

After bumming around on Friday we all did a little relaxed caching today even though the weather was quite blustery and chilly.

Spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night in a cabin near Harriet with my wife's family. Had a great time visiting some of the waterfalls in that area. I saw two nice ones (Little Glory Hole and another near the Buffalo River). Rock Hound and dad-in-law made it to a couple more. Rock Hound hit one cache that was near China Falls and said it was very nice.

Overall, we had a great weekend just relaxing in the beautiful Arkansas outdoors!

My wife and I traveled from our home in Rosenberg, TX to have Thanksgiving with my sister in Benton. My daughter (geocaching as nyisutter) and her family and my son (geocaching as wg_outlaw) drove from the St. Louis area to join us. I had introduced my nephew (jamie2) to caching back during the summer. Jamies dad joined us and six of us went caching in the Benton-Bryant-Little Rock area on the day after Thanksgiving and found 9. I could only claim one of them as new to me. jamie2 had found 5 of them me earlier in the summer with me. nyisutter reached her 200th find milestone on this group hunt.
