New to the caching thing, found all of the Lake DeGray state park caches last summer took a break over the winter and have been searching the Malvern caches over the last week or so. I was wondering do the geocachers in the Hot Springs, Malvern, Arkadelphia area ever have a get together like some of the other groups?

Hello pipeinator and welcome to the Arkansas Geocachers Association. There are quite a few geocachers in that area. There is a HUGE get together planned for this summer at Lake Ouachita State Park. It's the ArkGeo 2009 Annual Meeting (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=69acf625-5702-475c-9405-ea697d435fd1). There were roughly around a hundred geocachers from all over there last year and it was a blast! Be sure to check out the ArkGeo Hot Dog Roast and Campout (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=15ea5ab6-45be-4084-a7ea-05e0d4890d47) that evening and the clean-up the following day (ArkGeo 2009 CITO - Lake Ouachita State Park ) (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=854ad426-f68d-4d73-ab3a-b11a9616e6b6). Look forward to seeing you there. :D

Hey pipeinator!

I was wondering do the geocachers in the Hot Springs, Malvern, Arkadelphia area ever have a get together like some of the other groups?

Gingerose and I were just talking about that very thing just yesterday! Be on the lookout for something like that very soon. Until then, don't hesitate to give any one of us a holler if you need anything. You may contact me through the geocaching website, through my profile. Great to have you here!

Hello, pipeinator! Welcome to the game...er obsession. Hope to see you on the geo trails.
We have lots of great events coming up soon. The Clarksville or Cacheville event http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... 234c331886 (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=224f482f-33f7-41ca-9ae5-a9234c331886) will be on April 18 and is a great place to meet geocachers from all over and to find plenty of good caches.
Again, welcome to geocaching in Arkansas

Hi and welcome. I hosted an event in Hot Springs a few years ago and it went fairly well. Looks like it is time for another.

Well lets plan an event then. The best days for me are Friday afternoon/evening, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon. How bout everyone else?? We could do just an informal event like the meet and eat events at a local restaurant and then later on try to get a big event set up.

Throw out your ideas here.

Sounds great! Saturdays and Sundays are good for me.

There are several resturants that have seperate rooms around here that we could use. I could see about getting one.

If we want to make it an actual loggable event then we will need to post it on the GC.com website at least 2 weeks prior to the event. It doesn't have to be a loggable event though.

Sure it does! Event smiley are the coolest! It has to be loggable! 8O It is also the easiest way to let everyone know you are having one. It's really not that hard, just type up a cache page telling where everything is going to be and be sure and not make it too commercial. Better yet, just copy idratherbehiking's Breakfast Club event page and just change the pertinent information. I'd love an eat and greet in Hot Springs. I'll help!

I'm sure it will be loggable but I just wanted to throw it out there and see what the area cachers wanted to do. I have hosted a couple of events before but just haven't had time to in the last couple of years. If we want to do it in April then we need to get a move on! The only weekend left for April is the last weekend, the 25th, because the Clarksville event is the 18th. May is open for me other than the 16th cause that is graduation!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't be opposed to a graduation celebration/ geocaching event on Friday the 15th, or Saturday 16th in the evening. The first weekend of May is just before finals so I'll be studying. Just throwing out some ideas.

Sooner the better, we are getting several new cachers in this area and I would love to be able to put some faces with names.

I don't mind helping either just let me know what I can do.

Hang on, and let me check my schedule. I have some stuff going on around then, and I would obviously be interested in being there.
We are trying to do an Arkgeo meet and greet around then for here, so maybe we could just get together and talk about the stuff we wanted to, at that time.
I am interested in doing a shindig of sorts for Will's graduation, so maybe we could do something with that too.
I need to check Mrs.Q's work schedule and I'll call you guys about this subject.
