Go into the "Your account" link, then into 'Your Info" and make sure your Time Zone is set correctly. The website has a set timezone but users can set their display to whatever they want. Central STANDARD time is GMT -6. I'm not sure how to make the website observe Daylight Savings Time - so some people will change it to GMT -5 instead...

Most of Arkansas is Central timezone, correct?

Just checking to make sure we changed this to the correct time. As we're sitting here on Thursday night reading posts from FRIDAY thought we'd better change something!

Just a test.

My computer says it's 10:16pm CDT - Thursday, June 3, 2004

Now lets see what my post says...

sd

EDIT: Ok - I'm 1 hour and 9 minutes off. I forgot that my computer is around 10 minutes fast. I'll fix that when I install new ram and reformat next week. Time to change from GMT -6 to GMT -5 for daylight savings time.

Just checking to see how the time on my computer compares to the time on the forums.

edit My clock and my computer showed 11:58 when I posted this.

2nd edit: I got it! I guess I should have just read the earlier posts closer for instructions. DUH!!!

Test post for time zone checking.

I change the timezone page to show the timezone settings for Arkansas, and also made the default for new users GMT-6 (Central Time). Now you should only have to worry about your timezone setting if you aren't in central time.

There is still the daylight savings time issue. I've not quite figured out just how to handle that.

Arkansas (Central Standard Time) is GMT -6 (minus six).

Because it works out to exactly 12 hours difference if you select +6 instead, the time will look right, but the date will be wrong, as you will have set your timezone for the opposite side of the world.

I did notice a few people have it set that way.

Also, to adjust for Daylight Savings Time, you can set it to GMT-5 insted of -6. Just remember to set it back to -6 when we go from CTD to CST.

I wish Nuke/phpBB (the software running the site) would just automatically adjust for DST, but I don't think it can.

Noticed even though my time was set at GMT -6 the time was off so I have set it for GMT-5 to see if that works

Yeah, that is the daylight savings time effect I was talking about. During the summer (DST) you need to set it to -5 and change it back to -6 when we go off DST. Unfortunately the software on the web site apparently can't do that automatically, since the rules for DST vary so much from place to place.

I haven't completely given up on this. I'd still like to automate it some way.
